Challenge
Netflix needed a standout promotional piece to support the launch of Russian Doll season two—one that reflected the show’s layered tone and Natasha Lyonne’s singular presence. In partnership with The Refinery, Evolution helped bring a bold creative concept to life: a stylized promo built entirely from original production, rather than relying on footage from the series.

Solution
We designed and built a custom mirrored set—an immersive, multi-surface environment where reflections were a feature, not a flaw. Using a two-camera setup, we captured a mix of stylized interviews and cinematic art shots—carefully choreographed to amplify performance while concealing crew, gear, and lighting. The mirrored design demanded precision across art, lighting, and cinematography, with every element crafted to support tone, performance, and visual cohesion.

Result
The promo debuted as a central part of Netflix’s Russian Doll season two campaign—standing out for its bold structure, original production, and visually inventive execution. It remains a sharp example of how high-concept creative can drive campaign impact without relying on traditional series assets.
