Rock for Responders
Content Coverage and Promotion for Broadcast and Social
Outlier Group
Challenge
Following the Palisades and Eaton Canyon wildfires, the USS Iowa Museum and Outlier Group staged a benefit concert to honor the first responders who risked their lives to protect LA communities. With a lineup of rock legends and a powerful mission, the event needed to be captured in a way that honored its spirit while supporting both live and long-term media use.
Solution
Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses) led the charge, calling on Sammy Hagar (Van Halen) and others to headline a one-night tribute built on gratitude, energy, and legacy. Evolution was brought in to lead creative capture and collaborate on content development across promotional and broadcast channels. Our focus was storytelling—balancing continuous event coverage with dynamic, cinematic moments. We used a hybrid camera approach to capture performances, crowd energy, and artist interactions with a sense of scale and emotion. Interviews were filmed at the bow of the ship beneath its massive guns, providing a raw, iconic setting. We also coordinated with event teams to cover a military flyover timed to Steve Stevens’ live performance of the Top Gun: Maverick theme—one of the show’s most moving highlights.
Result
Over 3,000 complimentary tickets were distributed to first responders and their families. The event raised meaningful funds through the Pacific Battleship Center and generated widespread awareness across press, social, and community channels. Evolution helped preserve the impact of the moment—translating a live tribute into a lasting visual story.
