When Sony Interactive Entertainment launched its State of Play initiative, the goal was to deepen fan engagement and reinforce internal culture by spotlighting the global studios behind its most iconic PlayStation titles. The challenge was to authentically capture the identity, passion, and creativity of these developers—ranging from legendary teams like Santa Monica Studio to newly acquired international partners—in a way that felt cinematic, human, and globally consistent. With studios spanning multiple countries and diverse storytelling needs, Sony required a production partner capable of unifying many voices into one cohesive narrative.

Agency partner Off Base Productions tapped Evolution to concept, produce, and deliver a series of original video profiles for PlayStation’s global campaign. Each film immersed viewers in the world of a different studio, blending thoughtful interviews, cinematic visuals, and authentic storytelling.

For Santa Monica Studio, creators of God of War, Evolution produced a Los Angeles shoot that gave fans rare access to the philosophies and people driving one of PlayStation’s most beloved franchises. For international studios, our team oversaw a global production pipeline, onboarding local crews, aligning creative standards, and bridging time zones, languages, and workflows. This approach ensured that every studio’s story aligned with PlayStation’s brand while preserving the unique DNA of each team.
